The Opportunity
Fort Properties is growing, and we’re searching for a full-time, permanent Accounting & Administrative Assistant to join our team in Victoria. This dynamic role provides a full range of bookkeeping, administrative, and accounting support duties to our residential and commercial real estate holding and development company, and will be key to ensuring that our operations run smoothly.
Who Are You?
You are someone who appreciates being an integral member of a small and thriving family-owned and operated business. You’re a professional self-starter who enjoys both numbers and interacting with people – you have excellent interpersonal and professional communication skills, you thrive in a mostly independent work environment, and you’re hardwired to notice the details (i.e. you’re someone who dots their ‘i’s and crosses their ‘t’s and enjoy being accurate in your work!). You enjoy working a Monday-Friday office job (with the possibility of working from home once a week), and are excited at the multitude of administrative responsibilities your job allows you to tackle: helping out on the administrative side and acting as an Executive Assistant at times, managing general office duties such as dealing with the mail and ordering office supplies, helping out with IT issues, and participating in the planning of team social events. You are someone who does not shy away from a challenge, and instead, continuously seek opportunities to grow your own career and experiences, as well as helping your team find their groove and the company grow overall.
Key Areas of Focus
Bookkeeping - Conducts a full range of bookkeeping duties accurately and efficiently to support seamless financial operations.
Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable - Handles the day-to-day management of payment cycle activities, ensuring AP and AR duties are completed in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner.
Administration - Maintains filing systems, manages spreadsheets, and collaborates with team members to make sure operations run seamlessly.
Office Management – maintain office supplies, manage incoming and outgoing mail, assisting with expense reports and medical claims, providing light IT support, assisting with executive assistant duties as needed, and organizing team social events.
What We Look For
Interest in bookkeeping, accounting, and property management (with experience using a property management system and accounting considered assets)
Strong written professional communication skills
Highly computer literate, including proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Asana and Dropbox
Experience in Real Estate or Property Management an asset
Relevant coursework, diploma or degree considered a bonus
Excellent organizational, communication, and planning skills – you effectively prioritize workflow and meet deadlines
