Job Vacancy – LOADER / WASH PLANT OPERATOR

Wage: $35.63 per hour, as per current Collective Bargaining Agreement 

The opportunity 

Butler Concrete & Aggregate Ltd. has an immediate opening at our Duncan, BC location for an experienced Loader / Wash Plant Operator to join our team. This permanent, full-time union position will focus on safely operating loaders and wash plant equipment with the aggregate team. This role will report to the Aggregate Manager, but the ideal candidate will be able to work independently while collaborating with members of the team as required.

The details

• Operate front-end loader and other heavy equipment in a safe manner

• Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment used that day

• Adhere to all relevant regulations, policies and procedures while performing work duties

• Report any necessary repairs on equipment

• Feed wash plant, stockpile aggregate, and load highway trucks as required

• Conduct manual labour work around wash plant as required

What you bring

• Previous experience and general understanding of the principles of aggregate processing equipment 

• 3+ years’ experience operating loader or other heavy machinery

• Thorough knowledge of safe work procedures around aggregate operations

• Valid class 5 driver’s licence with a clean drivers abstract

• Valid Class 3A driver’s licence will be considered an asset

• Welding and mechanical skill considered an asset

• Prior experience on rock trucks, bulldozers or excavators will be considered an asset

• Must have high school diploma or GED

• Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong, clear communication skill

• Understanding of aggregate or a willingness to learn

• Proven ability to work with shifting priorities and manage time effectively

• Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills
