About the Role: We’re looking for an experienced Technical Product Owner to join our platform development team. In this role you’ll leverage your background and experience in developing detailed specifications and solutions, balancing cutting edge technical work with client and market needs. You'll play a key part in driving the evolution of our platform's spatial capabilities, ensuring that we continue to deliver innovative solutions in the rapidly evolving geospatial domain.
You will become deeply familiar with our platform’s spatial features and data model, using your expertise to analyze spatial data and geospatial processes. This is not a software development role, but your technical skills will allow you to bridge the gap between development teams, product definition and customer-facing/domain understanding. As we expand our product offerings, your experience with GIS and spatial data will help guide new features and improvements, keeping our solutions aligned with evolving customer needs and market trends.
Your role will also involve gathering and interpreting inputs from customers, potential clients, and industry trends, while collaborating with internal teams to ensure that our products stay relevant and innovative in the land administration domain. With our current focus on spatial solutions, and potential future product shifts, this is an ideal role for someone with deep geospatial experience and a curiosity to explore new directions.
This role reports to the Chief Product Officer.
Compensation & Benefits:
● $100,000 - $150,000 annual salary
● Remote within Canada (our ideal candidate has the flexibility & maturity to manage a schedule that includes occasional virtual and in-person collaboration with teams in PST, India, and Northern Ireland)
● Five weeks of paid PTO annually
● Medical & dental benefits
● Support for professional development
What you’ll be doing…
● Become an expert in our LAVA platform for land administration solutions, with an initial focus on the spatial features.
● Collaborate with leadership and development teams to define and maintain the product roadmap, aligning it with customer needs, market trends, and business objectives.
● Translate customer, market, and stakeholder requirements into detailed technical specifications and solutions that development teams can implement effectively.
● Author effective test plans to assist the development and quality assurance teams in verifying functional and performance requirements are met.
● Act as a liaison between customers, potential clients, and internal teams, ensuring clear communication of user needs and ensuring the product's market fit.
● Understand the software architecture, database structures, and the overall technical design of the platform to bridge the gap between internal technical teams and customer and domain requirements.
● Work closely with the product owner and development team to prioritize features, enhancements, and bug fixes based on client feedback, market needs, and product strategy.
● Engage with customers to gather feedback, understand their workflows, and incorporate user input into the product development process to improve usability and satisfaction.
● Stay current with geospatial industry trends and emerging technologies to inform product development and identify opportunities for innovation and product direction shifts.
● Monitor and adapt to changes in the geospatial domain and other emerging product areas as the company grows, remaining flexible and curious in exploring new opportunities for feature development.
● Prepare and deliver presentations and reports that clearly communicate impact.
● Provide on-site support as needed for clients, ensuring smooth project delivery and addressing technical challenges.
● Mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and technical excellence.
● Collaborate with senior leadership to align initiatives with company strategy and growth objectives.
● Facilitate knowledge sharing across teams to enhance overall product functionality and client satisfaction.
